Who's Who?

Case Manager of the Year Award

We all have mentors and professional colleagues that we admire, follow and look up to for support and guidance. Someone who has allowed us to enhance our own professional growth and development while excelling as a leader in their profession without missing a beat. Hopefully part of why this person’s case management role as a leader is so obvious is because he/she is also involved as a member of CMSA. Perhaps he/she has influenced your membership in our organization. The Chapter’s Distinguished Case Manager of the Year Award is your opportunity to recognize the person who, through their unique contributions, have strengthened, grown and brought The Case Management Society of New England’s reputation to region and ultimately national excellence! Please consider nominating one of your colleagues as Case Manager of the Year.

I distinctly recall how she went out of her way to introduce herself to me, tell me about CMSNE, explain the networking opportunities, and how important it was to get involved.  She lives and breathes Case Management and sets an example of what we should all strive for, to reach out to Case Managers in all arenas of Healthcare, and realizing we are all a part of one big team striving for accountability and excellence.

She was instrumental in getting the CMSNE website up and functional.  She has also offered her assistance in website design to some of the other chapters when they were floundering and needed some advise and assistance.

I had the pleasure of serving on the CMSA national board of directors with her, she is quiet, responsible and responsive and always follows through on tasks that she has been assigned or volunteered to complete.

She has been active in our efforts to promote and educate case managers and legislators regarding our Nurse Licensure Compact initiative.  She has steadfastly assisted CMSA in our Lobby Days on Capital Hill, providing expert knowledge to our legislators.

As a member of CMSNE she has served as chapter President and was instrumental in the merging of the Insurance Rehab Nurses and Boston Regional Continuing Care Nurses with the chapter.  She established the CMSNE Scholarship fund with funds obtained through the merger of IRN with CMSNE.   On a National and local level this member works diligently to keep Case Managers apprised of health policy awareness. Her contributions to the organization both locally and nationally are endless; she is passionate about case management and shows this in every aspect of her professional and personal life.

Comments from individuals who nominated Carol for this honor:

She is always available to lend her support and encouragement.  No question is ever too silly or too stupid to ask.  Her knowledge, enthusiasm and professionalism towards the advancement of Case Management in all areas of healthcare have and will continue to be an inspiration to many.

When I think of her I always see her great smile and can do attitude.  She is responsible for the merging of IRN and BRCCN with CMSNE.  She had the vision and foresight to recognize all three organizations would be better off if we joined as one and spoke with one voice for the betterment of our profession and fostering membership growth within one chapter.
