RI CMSNE Educational Opportunities
Please note:
Rhode Island News:
RI Extension of CMSNE wishes all of you a Happy Holiday Season! As we share the joys of friends and family, we hope that you take a few moments to celebrate yourself! For all that you do all year long, review your accomplishments, appreciate all that you have given to those in your care. As case managers we often become busy with one task to the next, without taking a moment to reflect upon the journey. YOU are the success of the CARE that is the spirit of the season... all year long! From the bottom of our hearts, we salute you!
To all the vendors who have supported our chapter throughout the year, we wish you a very special "Thank You!". Without you, these educational opportunities to learn about wonderful, informative topics would not be possible. The services that your companies provide expand the choices that our clients have for the care that they can receive. We, as advocates for our clients, are all about making informed choices, especially with the Health Care Accountability Act. Having access to this information is priceless! Knowledge is key. Without this, the options become so much more restrictive. We are very grateful for your continued enthusiasm in helping us to care for our clients, who sometimes become your clients. It is good to share the care with a trusted company!
Our chapter has been gifted with an educational opportunity for the end of this year! At Chelo's, Thursday, December 8th, 2011, Peggy Leonard, MS, RN-BC, FNP; Senior VP, Clinical Services of Hudson Health Plan, will be presenting information on the Case Management Adherence Guidelines for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. What a chance to learn about an illness that accounts for 43 Billion dollars per year in direct healthcare expenditures and indirect costs due to morbidity and mortality. (NCQA 2008). Please try to attend, bring a friend and colleague! Share the passion of your profession.
We will continue to support our CMSNE Social Initiative. Please bring an item for donation.... For food pantries and/or shelters. Last years donations were so well received. Every little bit helps as we combine our efforts to those of others! A pair of gloves, socks, hats, scarves, even a small, unused toy can be added to the mix of Santa items. My plan is to visit the nearest Job Lot.... Good deals at a reasonable cost, and a great mix of personal items, games and toys, clothes, and pantry items. It's the spirit of Santa that lives in all of us! Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
Don't forget to make your calendars for the start of the New Year! Our First Meeting of 2012 is right around the corner! Tuesday, January 10th, 2012, also back at Chelo's, Catherine Mullahy, RN, BS, CRRN, CCM will present on the topic of Hyperlipidemia in Diabetes: Translating Population Health Management Into Individual Treatment Strategies. This will sure to be informative as our population of diabetic patients continues to grow. We will continue to accept the charitable donations at all of our meetings this year as support for CMSNE's Social Initiative.
We look forward to seeing all of you! Have a wonderful and joyous Holiday Season!
Rose and Gina, Co-Chairs RI Extension
