Sessions

Session I - Meet or Tweet : Multi-Generational Communication
The current healthcare workforce includes professionals from all four generations for the first time in history.  In the rapidly changing health care arena, the necessity to create an environment of effective communication and collaboration is more important than ever.  This session will explore the events that influenced each generational cohort during their formative years, commonly held characteristics of each cohort related to communication, feedback and recognition, and strategies to enhance communication and improve retention.

Session II - Medicare 101
This presentation will help attendees understand the basics of the complex Medicare program, going from how to enroll and who can enroll to what will Medicare cover and what will it cost.

Session III - Enhancing Your Coaching Skills: Grow People and Transform Yourself
Coaching is both an attitude and a behavior. This interactive presentation helps you understand what coaching is and how you can develop and enhance skills you currently possess in order to facilitate the growth of others. Coaching is a win-win process. As you develop your own understanding of coaching, you become more receptive to learning more about yourself and what is important to you. Coaching can be applied to both our personal and professional lives. This presentation strikes a balance between looking at our whole life in balance as well as our career goals. Topics covered include how coaching differs from other styles of leadership and how, as a coach, one learns to listen for rather than listening to others. You will complete a self-assessement to discover your strongest values and how to live more closely aligned with your values in order to use your talents to the fullest and feel fulfilled. Additionally, you will learn ways you can improve your interactions with others, both personally and professionally. Utlimately, we learn how coaching skills help inform us about our career choices and goals.

Session IV - From Boardroom to Bedroom …
According to a recent research survey, the vast majority of leaders find themselves unfulfilled in the bedroom/ home life.  This data is not surprising, as leaders give their all at work and thus home needs tend to take back seat.   However if a leader is empowered at home – they bring that to the work place in the form of personal power, influence, communication, leadership, adaptability and so much more. The organizational benefits of empowered leadership include decreased employee sick days, improved retention, a balanced work and home life. Companies also see improved job performance, communication skills, and decrease in health insurance costs, to name a few.

From Boardroom to Bedroom … In this serious yet lighthearted and humorous presentation, Lauran takes her audience on a journey examining the boardroom to bedroom anomaly. Asking the question: Does the bedroom represent a place for clean laundry to be stored or is it a place of rejuvenation?” reveals more than what the bedroom looks like. Believe it or not, there is direct correlation to your leadership style and this question.

The bedroom represents home life and communication becomes critical in creating a positive work/home balance.  The audience will gain a better appreciation of how to use emotional intelligence not only in the boardroom but also in the bedroom to understand their true needs as well as how to achieve them. The overall goal is to provide you a balance in both the bedroom and boardroom leading to the empowered leader.
