Overall Conference Purpose Statement

This conference will examine the impact of cultural, economic, and environmental factors on healthcare decisions and delivery on a global level. Speakers will share firsthand experiences from working with marginalized and at-risk populations in Tanzania, Honduras, Taiwan, and Veterans in the United States, offering valuable insights into the unique challenges faced in diverse healthcare settings.

 Overall Conference Objectives:

  • Discuss global health principles and practices utilized in hands-on medical mission work in Honduras and Tanzania, demonstrating cultural competence, adaptability in resource-limited settings, and the ability to address diverse healthcare needs in these regions.
  • Discuss barriers and complications associated with working with marginalized and/or at-risk populations.
  • Describe how Taiwanese culture influences healthcare practice and decisions.
  • Identify resources available to NH at risk veterans and their families for housing services and suicide prevention.

    Clinical Practice, Culture, and Healthcare Overview

    – Describe key aspects of Taiwanese culture that influence daily living and professional interactions.
    – Explain the structure and functioning of Taiwan’s healthcare system.
    – Discuss the characteristics of Taiwan’s educational system and how it compares with the U.S. system.
    – Analyze examples from Dr. Fetzer’s teaching experience to understand cultural and systemic differences in practice.
    – Apply principles of cultural awareness to improve cross-cultural communication and collaboration.

    Medical Mission Work in Tanzania:
    Clinical Insights and Global Healthcare Perspectives

    General Chapter Event Registration Refund Policy
    The following policy applies to all events:
    • Registration can be transferred to another person if requested in writing by e-mail to CMSNE@CMSNE.org by the original registrant at least one week before the event.
    • All refunds are subject to a 10% administrative fee. If canceled up to 7 days before the event, 100% of the registration fee (less the administrative fee) will be refunded.
    If canceled less than 7 days before the event no refund is available.
    • No refund is given for a cancellation on the day of the program or post event.

    On the day of the event
    • No refund will be offered at the venue if the attendee answers “Yes” to any of the screening questions.
