News from the Maine Extension
We want to start off by saying WOW! The national conference that was just held in Las Vegas was amazing! It was energizing to the soul to be part of something that was so spectacular. We know you will be hearing a lot about Boston 2020 in the next months to come but please consider making Boston 2020 be part of your plans for professional development. It truly had something for everyone from every setting involving case management and educational offerings from novice to expert. It has been years since I have attended a national conference and I was not disappointed. The key note speakers were dynamic and the breakout sessions for many had standing room only due to the demand of the topics.
The Maine chapter has had a growing year! Our goal at the beginning of the year was to have two programs. We have met that goal having three programs that have been well attended and have a fourth program scheduled for July on Emotional Intelligence where we are partnering with Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice for our guest speakers and Maine Medical Center as a host location.
Dr. Austin Errico is speaking on 9/24/19 at 5:00 pm for 1 hour. His presentation is: 21 Lessons: Techniques and strategies for supporting persons with cognitive, emotional and behavioral challenges. Presentation to be held in the Brighton Room at New England Rehabilitation Hospital. Free Parking. Arrive at 4:30 pm for registration, networking and light refreshments.
We continue to look forward serving the needs of the members but welcome everyone who is looking for professional development with quality topics and speakers, networking with colleagues in the area and just taking a moment to reflect on your own practice in the ever-changing world of health care. We have started to plan for next year and welcome input. If you have ideas for future programs or would like to host the location of a program, please let us know. We look forward to hearing from you!
